## 📋 Purpose & Scope

This color system governs all ALTİD communications including:
- Digital (website, social media, presentations)
- Print (brochures, signage, stationery)
- Environmental design

---

## 🎨 Structure Overview

### Two-Tier System
Each color has a functional role and is organized into four tiers. **Six named color families** totaling 8–10 distinct values remain within professional standards while maintaining visual richness.

| Tier | Role | Frequency |
|------|------|-----------|
| Primary Color | Identity anchor (logo, key headlines) | Dominant appearance |
| Secondary Colors | Enrichment palette (illustrations, dividers) | Less frequent |
| Accent Color | Calls-to-action, badges | Sparingly used |
| Neutral Colors | Body text, backgrounds | Structural backbone |

### Tonal Scales
Each base color includes: **Light**, **Base**, and **Dark** variants

- Light → for large background areas (base mixed toward white)
- Base → canonical value (primary use case)
- Dark → hover states, active states, high contrast contexts

---

## 🎯 Color Rationales & Specifications

### Primary Colors

#### Mediterranean Navy — PRIMARY ⚓️ **LEAD**
```hex: #1B2E5E | rgb(27,46,94) | cmyk(C:71 M:51 Y:0 K:63)`  ```
- PMS 281 C
🎯 Rationale: The deep blue of the Mediterranean at depth and Alanya's evening sky. Anchors with gravity, trust, professionalism — essential for institutional credibility. Resonates in traditional Turkish ceramics (İznik tiles) and cultural patterns. Provides sober counterweight to warm accent palette.
💼 Usage: Logo wordmark, primary headlines, navigation, footer backgrounds, official correspondence headers
---
### Secondary Colors 🌊🏰✨
#### Mediterranean Turquoise — SECONDARY 1
```hex: #1A9BC8 | rgb(26,155,200) | cmyk(C:87 M:23 Y:0 K:22)` ```
- PMS 7459 C

🎯 Rationale: Color of Alanya's water — the single most viscerally recognizable visual quality. Turkish Riviera is internationally known for this exceptional turquoise-blue clarity. Communicates sea, warmth, vacation to any audience worldwide. Energetic without being aggressive; carries optimism and freshness required by tourism brand. Present in existing logo.

🌊 Usage: Section dividers, illustration fills, hero accent backgrounds, maps, wayfinding elements

---

#### Alanya Terracotta — SECONDARY 2
```hex: #C4421A | rgb(196,66,26) | cmyk(C:0 M:66 Y:87 K:23)` ```
- PMS 7526 C
🎯 Rationale: Color of Alanya Castle walls and the landmark Red Tower (Kızılkule, built 1226 CE). Warm reddish sandstone and brick characteristic of region. Not arbitrary — literal color of iconic historical structures. Evokes sun-baked clay of Anatolian ceramics and warm earth of Taurus foothills. Anchors historical dimension of brand identity.
🏰 Usage: Heritage content, event callouts, castle illustrations, warm background panels, secondary CTAs
---
#### Saffron Gold — SECONDARY 3 / PRIMARY ACCENT
```hex: #E8920A | rgb(232,146,10) | cmyk(C:0 M:37 Y:96 K:9)` ```
- PMS 1375 C

🎯 Rationale: Two essential meanings: (1) Color of Turkish sun — Alanya enjoys 300+ sunny days annually; communicates warmth, energy, Mediterranean summer that draws visitors. (2) Direct reference to Turkish gastronomy — saffron is defining spice in Anatolian cuisine (pilaf, desserts); gold also evokes baklava, honey, culinary richness. Replaces muted amber of original logo with confident value performing better at small sizes and on digital screens.

🍳 Usage: Primary accent/CTAs, food & gastronomy content, sunshine visuals, badge/tag elements, icon fills

---

### Supporting Colors 🌲

#### Taurus Olive — SUPPORTING
```hex: #5A7A3A | rgb(90,122,58) | cmyk(C:26 M:0 Y:52 K:52)` ```
- PMS 364 C
🎯 Rationale: Taurus Mountains rise behind Alanía creating dramatic backdrop of green peaks against blue sea. Olive green was absent from original logo (communication focused on coast but not land — leaving narrative incomplete). Strong gastronomical significance: Turkish Mediterranean is world's great olive oil-producing region; herb flavors driving food tourism color deliberate addition, decoration.
🌲 Usage: Mountain/nature content, eco-tourism messaging, agricultural/gastronomical contexts
---
### Neutral Colors ⬜⚫️
#### Aegean Sand — NEUTRAL LIGHT
```hex: #F5EDD8 | rgb(245,237,216) | cmyk(C:0 M:3 Y:12 K:4)` ```

🎯 Rationale: Warm cream-sand of Alanya beaches. Essential that warm neutral (not cool gray — feels corporate/northern European, misaligned with sunlight feeling). Provides warm breathing alternative to pure white for large backgrounds; prevents visual fatigue from pure white at length.

⬜ Usage: Page/document backgrounds, card/panel fills, print neutrals

---

#### Deep Charcoal — NEUTRAL DARK
```hex: #2A2A2A | rgb(42,42,42) | cmyk(C:0 M:0 Y:0 K:84)` ```
🎯 Rationale: Near-black rather than pure black (rarely used in professional systems because optically harsh). Reads as black in body text but warmer and easier on eye. Prevents cold contrast of pure `#000` against warm cream backgrounds.
⚫️ Usage: All body text, captions, footnotes; only permitted body text color
---
## 📊 Accessible Contrast Requirements (WCAG 2.1)
| Text Size | Minimum Ratio |
|-----------|---------------|
| Normal (<18pt or normal weight) | **4.5:1** |
| Large ≥18pt or bold 14+)         | **3:1**    |
✅ Deep Charcoal on Aegean Sand ≈ _9.5:1_ (safe all sizes)
✅ Navy on Sand ≈ _8.2:1_
⚠️ Saffron Gold should carry large text only due to moderate contrast ratio
---
## ⚠️ Usage Rules
### Hierarchy of Use
- Mediterranean navy **dominates** all materials; first color seen and most strongly associated with brand
- Turquoise provides energy/identity — use freely in visual stories but never outweigh navy at page level
- Terracotta/Gold used supporting roles — neither should dominate together create warmth, separately specificity (heritage vs sunshine)
- Olive reserved for thematic contexts only; not core logo system or primary UI
- Aegean Sand replaces pure white as preferred background on warm materials
### Combinations to **AVOID** 🚫
```
❌ Terracotta on Saffron Gold backgrounds (insufficient contrast, color clash)
❌ Navy text on Turquoise backgrounds unless using light tint variant (marginal ratio)
❌ Olive as text color on any light background (insufficient legibility at small sizes)
❌ More than three brand colors in single layout panel
❌ Saffron Gold large-area backgrounds
```
## 📍 Brand Context & Story
> The ALTİD color palette is not a collection of colors. It **is** Alanya as visual map:
- Deep navy → deep sea at dusk
- Vivid turquoise → shallow coastal water
- Terracotta → Kızılkule and ancient castle walls
- Saffron gold → midday sun + richness of Turkish table
- Olive green → Taurus Mountains behind city
Every color has a referent in Alanya's physical/historical/cultural reality. This grounding makes system defensible, durable, self-consistent. Test for new design decisions: "Does this color belong in _Alanyä_?"
### Palette Characteristics
- Warm-dominant approach (essential because tourism communication lives/dies on emotional resonance)
- Navy provides gravitas/credibility, warmth carries energy and invitation
