“GOAL: TO BE AMONG THE TOP 5 COUNTRIES”
Stating that a one-unit increase in demand in tourism stimulates the economy by 2 units, ALTİD President Sili said, “The tourism sector directly affects 54 sectors, primarily food, catering, and transportation. In this case, when tourism is mentioned, components such as social development, social relations, promotion, employment, and international relations emerge. While the number of foreign visitors to our country was 4.4 million in the 1990s, it reached 10 million in the 2000s, exceeded 30 million by the 2010s, and reached a figure of 34.9 million tourists in 2013, placing Turkey in 6th place among the world's preferred countries. In 2014, this number was around 36 million 837 thousand. With 29.4 billion dollars in tourism revenue, Turkey ranks among the top 10 in the world; it is possible to foresee that if the tourism sector continues with this stability and is strengthened by offering alternative tourism products, we will be among the top 5 countries in the world's visitor entry rankings in the 2020s.”
