The 51st Presidential Cycling Tour started from Alanya with the participation of a total of 21 teams and 168 athletes. The race, which is closely followed by the Turkish and world press and broadcast in 190 countries by global-scale TV channels, primarily Eurosport, holds great importance in terms of the promotion of Alanya and the country.
“ALANYA SHOULD BE MORE RECOGNIZED THROUGH BICYCLE SPORTS”
Burhan Sili, Member of the Board of Directors of the Turkish Hotel Association (TÜROFED) and President of the Alanya Tourist Operators Association (ALTİD), stated that sports tourism holds great importance for spreading the season duration, which is shrinking due to increasing bed capacity every year and other reasons, across 12 months. Noting that Alanya needs a ‘velodrome’ (cycling arena) so that it is mentioned more frequently, especially with the sport of cycling, Sili expressed, “The preference of sports clubs for our region during camp and competition periods provides significant advantages in terms of both promotion and economy.”
