Süha Özçakıl, an official of the Alanya Tourism Promotion Foundation (ALTAV), represented Alanya at the International Tehran Tourism Fair held in Tehran, the capital of Iran. Within the scope of the fair, contacts were established with airline representatives and tour operators, while the stand was also visited by the Iranian Ambassador and artist Shahram Nazeri. Erkan Yılmaz, Chairman of the Board of Old Tuşba Tour, and Murat Hatipoğlu, Sales Manager of Sunexpress, expressed various reservations for the upcoming season due to the difficulties regarding flight permits from the Iranian government and the deficiencies in payment options.

Alanya was promoted at the tourism fair held in Tehran, the capital of Iran. Alanya was represented by Süha Özçakıl, an official of the Alanya Tourism Promotion Foundation (ALTAV). In 2015, 1 million 700 thousand Iranians entered our country from this nation, and in 2016, 1 million 665 thousand entered. Sharing his impressions in light of the meetings held at the International Tehran Tourism Fair, organized in Iran, which is one of Turkey's important markets, Özçakıl stated the following:
“IRANIAN AMBASSADOR VISITED”
Regular participants stated that the fair is developing further and participation is increasing with each passing year. There was a visit to our stand by the Iranian Ambassador. Alanya's recognition is low. In this sense, our participation in the fair is gaining even more importance. During the fair, we had contacts with airline representatives and tour operators.
“INTEREST IN NEVRUZ HAS DECLINED”
Erkan Yılmaz, Chairman of the Board of Old Tuşba Tour, one of the largest companies, did not speak optimistically about the upcoming season. He stated that the Iranian people are particularly uneasy due to terrorism and do not view Turkey as warmly as they used to, thereby opening up new alternative destinations. He also mentioned that the Iranian Government is causing significant difficulties regarding flight permits and that flight requests for next year have still not been answered, adding that they waited for half of their reservations during the Nevruz Festival, which is very important for them, last year.
“SHAHRAM NAZERİ AT THE ALANYA STAND”
Sunexpress Sales Manager Murat Hatipoğlu stated that they could not establish direct flights to Iran for Antalya and Gazipaşa-Alanya airports. He explained the reason for this as the lack of credit card payment options and the Iranian government causing difficulties in granting flight permits, adding that there is currently no demand for full charter flights. Additionally, Iran's famous folk artist Shahram Nazeri was among our booth visitors. This visit caused interest in our booth to increase.
