Mehmet Dahaoğlu, Vice President of ALTAV and ALTİD, stated, "Pegasus Airlines will operate 3 flights per week from Kyiv to Alanya-Gazipaşa Airport, starting May 28th."
Alanya was promoted in Kyiv, the largest city and capital of Ukraine. Mehmet Dahaoğlu, Vice President of the Alanya Tourism Promotion Foundation (ALTAV) and the Alanya Tourism Operators Association (ALTİD), shared his impressions of the fair and provided the following information after his meetings: We participated in the 26th UITT tourism fair held in Kyiv between May 11-13, 2021, together with the Ministry of Tourism. The Ministry of Tourism had a presence at the fair with a 300 square meter "Turkey Island." Coral Travel, TUI, and Pegas Touristik participated in the fair as tour operators. The Turkish Ambassador to Kyiv, Yağmur Ahmet Güldere, also visited our stand. The fair, which usually attracts a large number of visitors, saw reduced interest due to the pandemic. The fair, which had been postponed twice previously due to pandemic restrictions, was considered a success simply for being able to take place. In 2019, approximately 800,000 tourists came from Ukraine, a country with a population of 44 million. In 2020, 560,000 tourists visited Antalya and the surrounding region. This means that, in terms of tourist numbers, Ukraine was one of the countries least affected by the pandemic.
'There are 73 flights per week from THY.'
Currently, according to a recommendation issued by our Ministry of Health on April 22nd, it was stated that the requirement for a COVID-19 PCR test would be lifted for citizens of 16 countries starting May 15th. Turkish Airlines began announcing this on its website, which has brought some increased activity to its sales. However, this decision has not yet been implemented, as this recommendation must be communicated by the Ministry of Interior through a circular to the Civil Aviation Authority, who will then forward it to civil aviation authorities in other countries, border gates, security services, and individuals responsible for entry and exit procedures in each country. Currently, Turkish Airlines operates 73 flights per week from Ukraine to Turkey. Of these, 63 are to Istanbul, while the remaining flights are to Dalaman and Ankara. We hope that flights to Alanya-Gazipasa Airport (GZP) or Antalya will also be added to these routes. A positive development is that Pegasus Airlines will begin flights to GZP starting May 28th. These flights will operate three times per week from Kiev to GZP. Even during the pandemic, we hope to welcome even more tourists from Ukraine, which has brought a smile to our faces.
