The notes and general problems recorded during the consultation meeting hosted by the Alara Tourism Investors Association (ALTUYAB) were conveyed to the Minister of Culture and Tourism Numan Kurtulmuş at a sector meeting attended by ALTİD President Burhan Sili. During the meeting, Burhan Sili presented the file prepared by TÜROFED, making requests such as high taxes, the finalization of aircraft support, low-interest renovation and operating loans, and the Eid al-Adha holiday being 9 days long. Additionally, it was stated that the increase in bed supply in Alanya could disrupt the price-quality balance in cases where a sufficient number of tourists do not arrive.

Alanya Mayor Adem Murat Yücel had also attended the consultation meeting held in the ALARA region, hosted by the Alara Tourism Investors Association (ALTUYAB), which was attended by hotel operators. The notes taken and the general problems identified during this meeting, held at the Delphin Botanik Platinum Hotel, were conveyed to the Minister of Culture and Tourism Numan Kurtulmuş at a sector meeting attended by the President of the Alanya Tourist Operators Association (ALTİD) Burhan Sili.
“PROBLEMS WERE CONVEYED TO THE MINISTER”
Minister of Culture and Tourism Numan Kurtulmuş attended the “Tourism Sector Evaluation Meeting” held in Antalya, which included industry representatives. At this meeting, Burhan Sili, the President of ALTİD representing Alanya and a Member of the Board of Directors of the Turkish Hotel Association (TÜROFED), recorded the following: In the meeting we held in Antalya with Minister of Culture and Tourism Mr. Numan Kurtulmuş, we made requests regarding high taxes, the immediate resolution of flight supports provided to tour operators during this period when the 2018 aircraft are being planned, the temporary suspension of investments, and the implementation of long-term and low-interest renovation and operating loans to ensure general competitiveness, especially in regions like Alanya that have long provided services to tourism and contain small facilities, as well as the Eid al-Adha holiday being 9 days long.
“WE SUBMITTED THE FILE”
Additionally, as TÜROFED, we presented our dossier containing tourism-related issues that need to be addressed in the short, medium, and long term. One of the important topics in the dossier was the issue of bed supply. In Alanya alone, 4,985 new beds were put into service in 2017. There has been a similar rate of increase in the region over the last 5-year period. This increase in supply can also disrupt the price-quality balance in cases where a sufficient number of tourists do not arrive.
