The Alanya City Council Tourism Working Group meeting was held at the ‘Gündem 21 Evi’. In the meeting, which was chaired by tourism professional Mustafa Kahya and attended by Council President Nurhan Özcan, it was emphasized that control over security and hygiene issues in underpasses located in various parts of the city must not be lost starting from the beginning of the season. It was highlighted that in the joint survey titled ‘Underpasses’ conducted with Bahçeşehir Koleji, Alanya residents expressed that they find the underpasses unsettling and that these passages are insufficient regarding hygiene.

“RESIDENT FOREIGNERS ARE RESISTING”

At the meeting, it was stated that early reservation rates are in a poor state, and additionally, officials from the Alanya Tourism Promotion Foundation (ALTAV) noted that foreign citizens, who know Alanya and the Turkish people through international tourism fairs, make early reservations solely to provide support by standing against propaganda made against Türkiye. Council officials, stating that uncensored TV broadcasts containing negative content about Türkiye are being aired abroad, said, “Expatriates and long-term guests are resisting the perception management being created against Türkiye.”

“DEMAND FOR THE OBLIGATION TO PROVIDE TRAINING TO EMPLOYEES”

At the meeting, a warning was issued that the individuals who will work in tourist facilities and be hired alongside Alanya tradesmen, and who will be in dialogue with foreign guests, must be skilled and certified personnel; furthermore, it was emphasized that employers must ensure that unskilled or uncertified individuals without a tourism degree receive training. It was decided to present a plaque to the Alanya Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ALTSO) for the certification studies conducted. It was emphasized that discussions will be held with ALTSO regarding the mandatory provision of "personal development" and "human relations" training for personnel who will work in Alanya during the summer season.
