He stated that as measures for environmental protection gain increasing importance today and visitors begin to show sensitivity in this regard, the Ministry has also taken action, updating and developing the existing classification form for environmentally sensitive accommodation enterprises and launching the “Green Star Campaign” by making it compatible with EU criteria.
With the project, facilities that have established their infrastructure and environmental policies regarding environmental sensitivity will officially register their environmental sensitivity by applying to the Ministry. Additionally, it will—especially increase their preferability by conscious visitors,
- Able to minimize current energy consumption and achieve a reduction in energy costs between 20% and 80% through their Environmental Action Planning,
- They will ensure their employees become aware through personnel training practices.
All of these efforts will directly contribute to the increase in guest satisfaction.
In addition to these achievements, information was provided regarding the application process for the Environmentally Friendly Accommodation Facility Certificate.
In order to obtain this document, facilities must include the following documents in their applications: a report containing the enterprise's environmental policy and action plan, all activities carried out in accordance with this plan, the action plan implementation officer, information and documents provided by the enterprise regarding the training given to personnel to increase environmental awareness and to ensure the implementation of environmental measures and the action plan, the training program, certificates, documents distributed and announced to personnel, an environmentally sensitive wastewater plan, and the relevant administration's letter on this matter.
