The Vakantiebeurs tourism fair in Utrecht, Netherlands, opened its doors on January 11th. Turkey's tourism promotion and development agency (TGA) conducted promotional activities for Turkey in a 300 square meter booth. In 2020, the fair was visited by 100,797 people. Due to the pandemic, the fair was suspended for a period, and it is expected that over 100,000 visitors will attend this year. This year, 850 institutions and organizations from 100 countries are participating in the fair. Alanya is represented at the fair by the Alanya Tourism Promotion Foundation (ALTAV). Burhan Sili, a member of the Board of Directors of the Turkish Hoteliers Federation (TÜROFED) and the President of the Alanya Tourism Operators Association (ALTİD), along with ALTAV and ALTİD Vice Presidents Mehmet Dahaoğlu, and a large number of tourism professionals from Alanya, are participating in the fair, which Turkey is represented at through its national booth.
On the first day of the closed-door fair, there was significant interest from tourism professionals. Mehmet Dahaoğlu, Vice President of ALTAV and ALTİD, who was representing Alanya, shared encouraging news. Dahaoğlu stated, "We learned that Corendon, the largest tour operator in the Netherlands, will resume flights to Gazipaşa-Alanya Airport (GZP) after a 3-year hiatus. They will continue their operations, which were paused during the pandemic, with a total of 25,000 passengers this season: 15,500 from the Netherlands and 9,500 from Denmark. Flights from Amsterdam, Netherlands, will operate 3 days a week between April 23rd and October 31st, while flights from Copenhagen and Billund, Denmark, will operate 2 days a week between May 11th and October 22nd. ‘ALANYASPOR' ALSO HAS A SPONSOR.'
Atılay Uslu, Co-Founder of Corendon, stated that if the demand for flights increases and our partners provide support, they could add more aircraft and potentially double the current number of aircraft. Corendon, with a 600 square meter stand at the fair, is providing services with 34 participating companies. Last summer, Atılay Uslu, along with the senior management team, visited Alanya and was hosted by Alanya Mayor Adem Murat Yücel and ALTİD Chairman Burhan Sili. He pledged to conduct a more intensive operation in Alanya for 2023. As you know, Corendon is also a sponsor of Alanyaspor and attaches great importance to Alanya. Corendon also plans to bring 250,000 Dutch, Belgian, and Danish passengers to the Antalya-Alanya region in the 2023 season," he said.
