A team visited Alanya as part of a joint project between the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and Habertürk to film a historical documentary, and special filming took place at the Syedra Ancient City. Special filming was carried out at the Syedra Ancient City, located in the Uğrak neighborhood of Alanya, as part of the "Timeline" joint project carried out by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and Habertürk. When the filming, carried out using different equipment and techniques at specific locations determined with special efforts throughout Turkey, is completed, significant progress will be made in promoting Alanya's place in cultural tourism. The filming of the Syedra Ancient City was carried out by director Hasan Tual and his team, who have been involved in dizi, film, and documentary projects for 22 years and have established an important position in this field. Director Tual, providing information about the filming, said that they were starting an exciting project. Director Tual shared the following information: "We enthusiastically took on the 'Timeline' project offered to us by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and Habertürk. This project initially includes approximately 6-7 ancient cities. One of them is the Syedra Ancient City. During our filming in Alanya, we worked with both our guide and our history researcher. The content of our documentary is, so to speak, a somewhat romantic documentary. It has a story and a poetic narrative, but it will also include technical information about the region." "OUR AIM IS TO INCREASE INTEREST IN CULTURAL TOURISM" Tual, who said, "We are trying to go beyond the standards with the techniques we use in these shootings. Alanya is a wonderful opportunity for us in this regard," added, "Here, not only the Syedra Ancient City, but also the remnants from the Seljuk period and Alanya Castle are important to us. With this documentary, we will show that Alanya is not only a holiday tourism destination, but also that it hosts cultural tourism. We would like to thank Ertuğ Ergürer, the head of the excavation works at the Syedra Ancient City, and his team for their efforts in bringing the ancient city to this point. We have previously worked with the Alanya Tourism Promotion Foundation (ALTİD). We made a promotional film, and that film is currently being broadcast on Turkish Airlines (THY). We will also broadcast this documentary we have made in the future; discussions on this matter are ongoing. In this documentary, we are trying to plan our filming in a way that will not only appeal to summer tourism but also to cultural tourism." "2023 WAS A TURNING POINT FOR SYEDRA" Doçent Doktor Ertuğ Ergürer, Head of the Syedra Ancient City Excavations, said the following about the work: "We started the excavation work in 2019. We completed the 5th season of excavation work in 2023. 2023 was a turning point for Syedra. With the great support of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, we carried out intensive work with a large number of workers and technical teams. Thanks to this work, all areas in the colonnaded street were cleaned and the colonnaded street was restored. Restoration work on all structures in the bath and other areas has been completed. It is planned to continue these works in other areas in 2024. Although we are entering the 6th year for the Syedra Ancient City, we have obtained important data in a short period. This is because the city has a structure that is conducive to these data. Due to the good architecture compared to other regions, the restoration work was carried out more quickly and efficiently." "WORK ON THE BATH AND ITS SURROUNDINGS WILL BE COMPLETED IN THE COMING YEARS" Ergürer stated that the work on the bath and its surroundings will also be completed in the coming years, and said, "The bath is of great importance as it is one of the most important and magnificent structures in the city. In addition, it is a structure known for its mosaic depicting Heracles, as it is located in the city center. We plan to complete all the work in this area, close it in the necessary places, and create walking paths to open the Heracles Mosaic to visitors. New areas will continue to be opened, starting from the city center and expanding outwards. We are here with a professional filming team with the permission and support of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism. In this filming, the importance of cultural tourism in Alanya will be further emphasized, and efforts are being made to support this issue more. The different techniques used in the filming aim to show different areas of the Syedra Ancient City rather than the face that has been shown before. This creates a more diverse ancient city. The work is carried out in a very technical and professional manner. We thank the Ministry for their support in this regard."
