WHAT IS LEGIONNAIRES' DISEASE?

The Legionella Pneumophila bacteria, which multiplies and spreads into the air in the filter systems of air conditioners, as well as in water systems such as cooling towers, water tanks, and water distribution channels, enters the human body through the respiratory system and can cause pneumonia. This infection was first identified in 1976 following a meeting attended by American soldiers at a hotel, and it was diagnosed and named "Legionnaires' disease" due to this event.
