Stating that he began making sculptures from gourds 12 years ago in Istanbul, Babür Benderlioğlu said that he was elected an honorary member of the American Gourd Association because there is no other example of gourd sculpture art in the world. Expressing that there are 11 gourd sculptures in the exhibition, including characters such as Michael Jackson and an African sorcerer, Benderlioğlu said, "I create these sculptures with great love in Alanya. I exhibited my sculptures for the first time in 2007 at the Alanya Tourism and Art Festival. Those sculptures became the property of Alanya. I was also invited to the Festival, which is being held for the 11th time this year. This time, I donated my works to the ÇYDD student dormitory. I hope that through the sale of these works, we can help the girls' dormitory. I am extremely happy because it serves a specific purpose."
