ALTİD President Sili, on the other hand, emphasized the necessity of investments in tourism diversifications such as congress and health tourism, in addition to sports tourism, so that facilities can remain open during the winter period.

The Alanya Tourist Operators Association (ALTİD) Ordinary Board of Directors Meeting was held under the chairmanship of Burhan Sili. The association's management also had guests. The Managers of the Alanya Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ALTSO) Voc-Test Center, the District Directorate of Youth Services and Sports, the Konaklı Ümit Altay Hotel Management School, and the executives of the Hotel Cleaning Training and Decoration Association (OTED) visited the ALTİD management before the upcoming tourism season.
‘NUMBER OF ORGANIZATIONS WILL INCREASE’
Erdal Tamrak, the District Director of Youth Services and Sports, who delivered a presentation regarding their ongoing studies, stated that they would work in harmony with ALTİD executives to develop winter tourism. Stating that they have undertaken significant works in this direction with the Air Sports Federation, Tamrak noted that world tourism takes a large share from adrenaline sports such as aviation and surfing, saying, “In the upcoming seasons, we will increase the number of organizations we conduct and we will use all our strength to ensure more athletes come to our Alanya.”
‘ALLOCATED TO TBF’
Stating that with the significant efforts of Türkiye Cycling Federation (TBF) President Emin Müftüoğlu, a ‘Velodrome’—one of a few in the world—will be brought to Alanya, Tamrak said, “A Treasury land in Konaklı has been allocated to the TBF. Next is the project design stage.” Expressing that they also aim to create an archery zone in Kızılalan, Tamrak stated that archery is a branch that is increasingly developing in the world and will provide significant contributions to sports and culture tourism.
‘FOUNDATION STONE LAID FOR THE ‘YOUTH CENTER’
Finally, stating that the foundation of the Youth Center building next to the Milli Egemenlik Stadium has been laid, Tamrak explained that they would create a center here where the children of families residing in Alanya during the winter and Alanyalı locals could participate free of charge in many social activities, from theater to hockey, and from chess to basketball.
‘THERE ARE THINGS THAT NEED TO BE DONE’
ALTİD President Sili, emphasizing that sports and tourism should be treated as a whole without being separated, stated that although Alanya has made significant progress in sports tourism, there is still more to be done. He underlined the necessity of making arrangements and investments suitable for sports tourism as well as tourism diversifications such as congress and health tourism, in order for a greater number of facilities to remain open in Alanya during the winter period.
STAFF TRAINING ON THE AGENDA
In the meeting between the management of ALTİD and the managers of the ALTSO Voc-Test Center, an exchange of views was held regarding the 4th level foreign language proficiency of front office staff and the preferences of businesses. During the visit by the managers of the Konaklı Ümit Altay Hotel Management School, topics such as ensuring students work with high efficiency during their internship periods, keeping their morale and motivation high, and keeping the distance between the accommodation of the students and the hotels where they will intern short were discussed. In the most recent visit, discussions were held with OTED managers regarding the salary policy applied in personnel employment, qualified personnel, and the increase of training and employment. OTED managers requested ALTİD's support on these matters.
WHAT IS A VELODROME
A velodrome is a sports facility where track cycling races are held. Its total length is 250 meters. In track cycling, which is one of the Olympic cycling disciplines, races can be conducted in various distances and styles. The most important among these can be cited as the 250-meter individual sprint, team pursuit, omnium, keirin, and the 20-kilometer and 1-hour points races. There are two types of velodromes in the world: wooden and concrete. Due to the spaciousness of velodrome structures, all indoor sports can also be practiced within them.
