Promotion efforts for Alanya are continuing at full speed at the International Tourism Fair TTR2023, held in Bucharest, the capital of Romania, from February 23rd to 26th. Mehmet Dahaoğlu, Vice President of the Alanya Tourism Promotion Foundation (ALTAV) and the Alanya Tourism Operators Association (ALTİD), is representing Alanya at the fair. Dahaoğlu stated that Romania, with a population of 19 million, represents a significant potential for Turkey, and that based on reservation numbers, there has been a considerable increase in the number of tourists expected to visit Alanya from this country. Dahaoğlu noted that travel agencies are offering special discounted sales and promotions for the fair, and shared the following information based on his discussions with tour operators and agency representatives:

'IMPACT OF THE EARTHQUAKE IS VERY LOW.'

We are monitoring the pulse of the international fair held in Romania. The first two days of the fair will be for business people, while the last two days will be open to the public. In our interview with Şaban Atalar, General Manager of Christian Tour Türkiye, he stated that sales were good in October, November, and December, but slowed down starting in January. He also mentioned that this slowdown was, to a small extent, due to the earthquake. In 2023, they plan to operate 32 flights per week. Atalar stated that they will transport 70,000 people to Antalya through their own airline, Animawings, and by purchasing seats from Corendon. The number of passengers they transported in 2022 was limited to 42,000.

ODEON TOURS ANTALYA AIMS FOR 55,000 PASSENGERS

Odeon Tours, despite being relatively new to the Romanian market, has demonstrated a successful performance. They have secured seats from Turkish Airlines (THY), Corendon, and Fly Lili. In 2023, they plan to bring 55,000 tourists to Antalya. They have flight plans from 7 cities in Romania to Antalya. Egemen Tunçel, Director of Product Procurement at Odeon Tours, stated that they offer package tours not only to destinations in Turkey but also to other countries from Romania.

'35% of DERTOUR Sales Come from Alanya'.

Sales from DerTour, a company from Germany, to Turkey are continuing at full speed. Gözde Günal Temiz, Contract Manager for DerTour Turkey, stated that they brought 34,000 people to Antalya in 2022, and their target for 2023 is 46,000. DerTour operates flights from 12 cities in Romania and has the largest agency network in Romania. They work with the HiSky airline. Since the tourism fair held in Bucharest in November 2022, reservation figures have been 60% higher compared to 2022. 35% of advance reservation sales are for Alanya.

'FIBULA IS ESTABLISHING ITS OWN AIRLINE.'

Fibula Travel, a well-established Turkish company with a significant presence in the Romanian market, announced that its General Manager for Romania, Muharrem Mavisu, stated that they transported 38,000 passengers to Antalya in 2022. Their target for 2023 is 50,000 people. Mavisu also mentioned that they will be flying from 12 different cities in Romania. The company plans to establish its own airline company within 2023. Karpaten Turizm is another important Turkish company that sells tourism services in Romania. This company also attracts attention with its successful advertising campaigns.

'ANTALYA'S TARGET: 360,000 VISITORS'

We are providing promotional materials for the hotels in Alanya to the officials present at the fair. Looking at the overall figures, last year, 260,000 people came from Romania to Antalya. Based on the activity in advance bookings, it is estimated that this number will reach 350,000 visitors. It is noteworthy that a significant number of people travel from Romania to Turkey by road to the Aegean region. Furthermore, Romania ranks 7th among the countries that send the most tourists to Turkey.
