Corendon Airlines operated its first flight from Brussels to Gazipaşa-Alanya Airport (GZP), following its previous flights from the Netherlands. Passengers were welcomed at the airport with a ceremony.
Corendon Airlines operated its first flight from Brussels, the capital of Belgium, to Gazipaşa-Alanya Airport (GZP), which is operated by TAV Airports. The inaugural flight connecting the GZP-Brussels route by Corendon was marked with a traditional water salute ceremony. The ceremony was attended by Gazipaşa District Governor Orhan Altun, Alanya Municipal Council Member Nazmi Zavlak, Chairman of the Alanya Association of Tourism Operators (ALTİD) Burhan Sili, Vice Presidents of ALTİD and the Alanya Tourism Promotion Foundation (ALTAV) Mehmet Dahaoğlu, member of the Board of Directors of the Turkish Tourism Promotion and Development Agency (TGA) and Vice Chairman of ALTİD Şükrü Cimrin, Corendon Alanyaspor Club Chairman Hasan Çavuşoğlu, as well as representatives from the tourism sector. The flight, operated with a Boeing 737-800 aircraft with flight number XC7655, brought 189 passengers to Alanya, who were greeted with flowers at the terminal.
ALTİD Chairman Burhan Sili stated that the largest flight operation in the history of GZP had taken place. "This was a process we have been waiting for a long time. In this regard, we thank all employees and managers of Corendon. They have established a base in Alanya and will ensure the creation of a significant capacity here. We also have various airlines coming from abroad. We thank them for the operations they have organized. However, it is important to state that Corendon's operation is the largest one to date. I hope that it will continue to grow and provide valuable contributions to Alanya and Gazipaşa. Direct flights from key markets are important. With the arrival of Corendon and other companies, GZP will reach the places it deserves more quickly."
Mehmet Dahaoğlu, Deputy Chairman of ALTAV, stated, "Corendon Airlines announced that they will be using GZP Airport as a base, which is the biggest news for us this year. Spring has truly arrived in Alanya. They have significant investments planned for this area. Corendon Airlines played a major role in the development of Sabiha Gökçen Airport to what it is today. It appears that they will contribute to the development of GZP Airport in the same way. As ALTAV, we, as we do every year, held discussions with them regarding the possibility of bringing planes from the Netherlands and made a request. They did not leave our request unanswered. Just recently, a plane from the Netherlands landed at GZP. Today, a plane from Belgium landed. There are plans for two flights per week from Belgium. This year, 870,000 passengers are planned for GZP. In addition, Corendon Airlines is considering an extra 200,000 passengers with a 38% capacity. I hope that Corendon Airlines' successful operations will serve as an example to other airlines and will bring more tourists to both Alanya and Gazipaşa."
“Passenger numbers at GZP have increased.”
Oğuzhan Karatürk, General Manager of TAV Gazipaşa, stated that GZP has increased its passenger numbers. "We expect to see an increase in traffic at our airport with Corendon and our other airline companies. Our flight arrived from Brussels and will stay here. This aircraft will continue its flights to 17 destinations in 7 countries, including Gazipaşa. With this, the flights between Gazipaşa and Europe will have the potential for faster growth. This is something we were expecting."
