In her opening speech, emphasizing that the sector is going through a very difficult period, the former president of ALTİD and Member of the Board of Directors of the Turkish Hotel Association (TÜROFED) Gülçin Güner stated that they emphasize at every opportunity during meetings with the Ministry that the tourism sector, which has been sidelined for many years, significantly closes the current account deficit and possesses the volume to solve the employment problem.
“ADVISORY BOARD WILL BE ESTABLISHED”
Stating that there are major losses in the Russian, European, and Scandinavian markets, which are the cornerstones of regional tourism, ALTİD President and TÜROFED Board Member Burhan Sili also expressed that regional association presidents have been included in the ALTİD management, and further stated that a consultative board to be formed from veteran tourism professionals carries great importance for navigating the current situation of the sector through the most rational methods. Sili said, “The board we decided to establish in this meeting will consist of experienced names and will have the ability to influence the decisions to be taken by tourism-related institutions, primarily the Ministry.”
“WE HAVE DEVELOPED A COMPUTER PROGRAM”
At the meeting, the “Nova ALTİD Analysis Regional Data Program,” which was prepared by software developer Fatih Uysal and has begun being tested in 10 hotels, was introduced to tourism professionals. Providing information about the program, which was introduced in the form of a presentation, President Sili stated, “We need the information regarding which guest profile we should appeal to in which market more than ever before. We have developed a computer program regarding which points Alanya tourism needs to be bolstered and which steps should be taken in the promotional aspect of Alanya. The data obtained will be analyzed in universities and will shed light on our future.”
“GUEST PROFILE WILL BE REVEALED REGION BY REGION”
“With the program that has begun its trial application in 10 hotels, it is clearly revealed, in terms of daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly comparative numbers, which nationality, which age group, and which gender prefers which region during which period. By ensuring the widespread use of this computer program in all hotels, we will possess an important database without human intervention regarding the marketing of our facilities,” they said.
