The Republic was proclaimed on October 29, 1923, as a result of the National Struggle that began with Mustafa Kemal ATATÜRK's landing in Samsun on May 19, 1919. It is stated that by granting sovereignty unconditionally to the nation, the Republic brought the society to a state of national consciousness and elevated individuals to the status of citizens. The 86th anniversary of the founding of the Republic is being celebrated with great enthusiasm.

“The Republic, which Great Leader Mustafa Kemal ATATÜRK initiated with his landing in Samsun on May 19, 1919, as part of the National Struggle, and declared on October 29, 1923, by stating, 'The administration most suitable for the character and customs of the Turkish Nation is the Republican administration,' is the greatest legacy left to our Nation and an indispensable value. The greatest virtue of the Republic, in which sovereignty belongs unconditionally to the Nation, is that it has brought the society living on Anatolian lands to the consciousness of being a Nation and has elevated individuals to the status of Citizens. We celebrate the 86th anniversary of the founding of our Republic, the greatest holiday of our Nation, with great enthusiasm.”
