At the tourism fair held in the city of Utrecht, Netherlands, in January 2016, which the Alanya Tourism Promotion Foundation (ALTAV) attended, Alanya received an award by being selected as the “Best Holiday City” as a result of visitor votes by Reisgraag, the most popular holiday site in the Netherlands. Following the award, ALTAV and Reisgraag officials came together to launch an Alanya promotion campaign and gifted an Alanya holiday to Dutch citizens who provided correct answers to questions about Alanya asked online. In this context, the couple Henriette Janet Brand and Visser Thijs, who spent their holiday at the Alanya Grand Okan Hotel, showered Alanya and Turkish hospitality with praise on the Reisgraag site and social media networks.
“ALANYA IS A RELIABLE CITY”
A couple visiting Alanya for the first time stated in their review: “We were so satisfied with this place that we extended our holiday by an additional 3 days using our own means. We made our start to overseas holidays, which we haven't been able to go on for 5 years due to health issues, with a magnificent city like Alanya. This is our first time visiting this city, which has smiling employees. Contrary to what is being told abroad lately, we encountered a reliable city. We went on a boat tour, visited caves, and while experiencing the natural beauties of Alanya, we also had a wonderful time in the city center in the evenings and made new friends. The people of Alanya are incredibly hospitable; there is nothing to fear here. We will come back to stay longer. It was also a special pleasure for us that my birthday, which coincided with the holiday period, was celebrated by the hotel employees.”
“ALANYA AND PARIS HAD RECEIVED AWARDS”
Providing information regarding the promotional campaign, ALTAV and Alanya Tourism Operators Association (ALTİD) Vice President Mehmet Dahaoğlu stated, “The ‘Best Holiday City’ award we received from Reisgraag in January 2016 became a source of pride for Alanya and the Ministry of Culture and Tourism. Reisgraag is a completely independent holiday website that remains under no one's pressure. The site conducted a survey among 6,000 people traveling to various tourism destinations around the world, and Alanya took first place in the ‘Best Holiday City’ category. There were also countries that received awards in other categories alongside us. Paris was also selected as the most popular city. Afterwards, continuing with the momentum we gained, we prepared a survey consisting of questions about Alanya with the Reisgraag managers. There was great interest in this online survey, and according to its results, we hosted our Dutch couple in Alanya.”
“IT WAS AN IMPORTANT PROMOTIONAL EFFORT”
Grand Okan Hotel Manager Amanda Jane Özsoy also stated that the Dutch couple had become acquainted with Alanya thanks to the promotional work carried out by ALTAV. Özsoy said, “We were happy to host an important promotional work during a season when the number of Dutch tourists is low.”
