The world's most important tourism fair is being held in Berlin, the capital and largest city of Germany. At ITB, which is known as the World Tourism Exchange, leading companies in the global travel economy are making their latest moves. Alanya is being represented at the fair by the Alanya Tourism Promotion Foundation (ALTAV), whose chairperson is Alanya Mayor Adem Murat Yücel. ALTAV has a specially designed stand of 52 square meters at this important fair.
‘TAV officials conducted the discussions based on Alanya's standards.’
ALTAV and Alanya Tourism Operators Association (ALTİD) Deputy Chairman Mehmet Dahaoğlu stated that all hotels, agencies, and tour operators are conducting their discussions at the Alanya stand, and that officials from TAV Holding, the operator of Gazipaşa Alanya Airport (GZP), are holding meetings at the Alanya stand in an effort to attract more flights to the airport. "While we continue to receive good news from Germany, we have received positive news from Coral Poland, which is part of the Oti Group. The company's representative, Ahmet Bektaş, stated that they had worked very hard to fly to GZP last year, but had to cancel their flights at the last minute due to aircraft problems in Russia. He emphasized that they attach great importance to Alanya and that, starting in April, they will operate 5 flights per week to GZP from the Polish cities of Katowice (3 flights) and Warsaw (2 flights), bringing a total of 21,000 people to our region. We have been hearing new and additional flight announcements regarding GZP recently. It appears that GZP, the lifeline of Alanya tourism, will set new records in 2018."
"Passenger numbers have increased fourfold."
During our meeting with Heinz Bauermeister, General Manager of Ferien Touristik Germany, Product Director Çağdaş Arda, and Ozan Somaklar, they stated that Ferien Touristik has been operating in this market for many years, but after being acquired by Oti Group last year, they have made significant advancements in Germany. They mentioned that they have already reached 25,000 passengers this year and their goal is to reach 100,000 by the end of the year. They also stated that they will be incorporating the Coral Travel brand in the near future and will achieve successful results in this market.
