The 3rd of the tourism consultation meetings organized by ALTİD was held at the Konaklı Titan Select Hotel, hosted by Konaklı Hoteliers Association (KONTİD) President Ali Orkan, following Okurcalar and Türkler. The meeting, in which general problems facing national tourism as well as regional tourism problems were addressed and future solutions were discussed, was attended by Alanya Mayor Adem Murat Yücel, ALTİD President and Turkish Hotel Association (TÜROFED) Board Member Burhan Sili, ALTAV Vice President Mehmet Dahaoğlu, KONTİD President Ali Orkan, tourism regional association presidents, and board members.

PRESIDENT YÜCEL, “WE DISCUSSED THE PLANNING OF THE PAST, PRESENT, AND FUTURE OF TOURISM”

Following the opening speech by ALTİD President Burhan Sili, the problems of tourism and solution proposals were discussed at the meeting. After the meeting, during which the problems were discussed at length, Alanya Municipality and Alanya Tourism Promotion Foundation (ALTAV) President Adem Murat Yücel made a statement to the press, recording the following:

“We attended one of the regional meetings organized by ALTİD. Following Okurcalar and Türkler, we gathered in Konaklı today. We exchanged ideas regarding the planning and structuring of the past, present, and future of tourism. We evaluated the current situation. Most importantly, we shared what future investments might be in the face of problems arising from both the situation our country is in and regional conditions.”

CABLE CAR WILL ADD BRAND VALUE TO ALANYA

Mayor Yücel, who also made statements regarding the value that the cable car will add to Alanya tourism, the most important and agenda-setting investment of recent days, said, “With the awareness that the cable car will add brand value to Alanya, we had views regarding the opening, structuring, and implementation of the cable car. We exchanged information on how travel agencies and tour operators could benefit from the cable car and how tourists could benefit from it. We addressed the issues of where tourists going up to the castle via the cable car could benefit in the best possible way. We evaluated how tourists going up to the castle could benefit from the Bedesten area, the Grand Mosque, the cisterns, the Kayhanlar Culture House, and the inner castle. We stated that we are at the forefront of our studies regarding this, and we presented our proposals and suggestions to our tourism professionals so that people can benefit from this project in the most useful way as soon as possible. We evaluated the promising tourism-related investments of our region.”

“WE ARE DETERMINING THE PATH WE WILL FOLLOW”

ALTİD President Burhan Sili also stated, “We had continued our consultation meetings, which were launched in the Okurcalar region, in the Türkler and İncekum regions the previous week. This week, as with the other meetings, we met with our members who are hotel operators in our Konaklı region, again with the participation of our Mayor. We consulted on issues such as the current state of the tourism season, how it can be sustained, what needs to be done in the upcoming process, points that are malfunctioning in our relations with our municipality and local governments, and our emerging demands. We will continue these meetings, which I believe were productive, with the Cleopatra region. Our consultation meetings will continue in the eastern regions of Alanya in the following weeks. When we complete our regional meetings, we will hold another general meeting with the participation of agencies, tour operators, and all our members. I find this unity important in terms of what we must do as a sector, the elimination of problems, and the determination of the path we will follow. I believe that with correct projects and planning, we will reach much better points starting from 2018.”
