ALTAV, ALTSO, and ALTİD Issue Joint Statement to the Public

The Alanya International Beach Sports Facility was financed through voluntary contributions from the tourism sector under the coordination of ALTAV, ALTİD, and ALTSO, and no expenditure was made from the Alanya Municipality budget. The facility, which was completed in a short period of about two months by Spor Sanayi İnşaat A.Ş., successfully hosted international organizations such as the Volleyball World Beach Pro Tour Alanya Challenge and the EHF Beach Handball European Championship in 2025. Within the scope of the project, a fully equipped sports complex was built, including not only the stands but also changing rooms, press platforms, and landscaping. With this investment, the city has generated approximately 2,500,000 Euros in direct hotel accommodation revenue.

Genel

In recent days, due to some claims and comments reflected in the public regarding the Alanya International Beach Sports Facility, which has been constructed south of the Republican Stadium in our district, there has been a need for accurate information as the institutions carrying out the project. This statement has been prepared to transparently share with the public the justification of the project, the planning process, the financing model, the technical content, and the facts regarding the misleading claims made. FROM TEMPORARY INFRASTRUCTURE TO A PERMANENT VISION Alanya has successfully hosted national and international beach sports events for many years. However, the temporary infrastructure set up each season has not been sufficient to meet the city's needs due to increasing costs, logistical problems, and inadequate visuals. This situation has highlighted the need for a permanent, high-quality, and internationally compliant sports facility. THE PROJECT IS A COMMON REQUEST OF THE SECTOR This need led to the investment decision, which was made after comprehensive sector consultation meetings organized in coordination with ALTAV, ALTİD, and ALTSO. The project, shaped by the common views of tourism sector representatives in Alanya, is not a forced decision or a political one, but rather a visionary step originating from the city's dynamics and the sector itself. NO PUBLIC FUNDS WERE USED, FINANCING WAS PROVIDED THROUGH VOLUNTARY CONTRIBUTIONS The project was realized through the voluntary contributions of tourism sector representatives, without any expenditure from the Alanya Municipality budget. The contributions collected in a bank account opened specifically for this project within ALTAV were spent in a completely transparent and auditable manner. Contribution rates were determined based on the operating capacities of the sector organizations through consultations within themselves, and no company was forced to make contributions. COMPANY SELECTION WAS DONE TRANSPARENTLY Spor Sanayi İnşaat A.Ş. is an independent company registered in the Istanbul Trade Registry. It has a successful track record in setting up the facility infrastructure at the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Championship held in Alanya in 1997. The company was selected based on a comparison of different proposals and an evaluation made according to the technical specifications, taking into account cost, quality, delivery time, completion capacity, and references. Contrary to some rumors, the construction company, Spor Sanayi İnşaat A.Ş., has no connection with İstanbul Spor Etkinlikleri ve İşletmeciliği A.Ş., which is a subsidiary of the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality and is known as Spor A.Ş., other than the similarity in names. ANSWER TO MISLEADING PRICE CLAIMS In the public, some price offers given only for the construction of the tribunes of the facility have been distorted, creating a misleading impression about the project's budget. In the news, the text, which appears to be from the same company that provided a previous offer regarding the subject, states "355,000 USD + VAT for 3024-seat tribunes," but this offer was not submitted to ALTAV. The company submitted an offer to ALTAV that included only the tribunes, and there is only a 22,000 USD difference between this offer and the tribune offer submitted by the contractor company, Spor Sanayi A.Ş., for the same job with a capacity of 3288 people. In other words, despite the increase in capacity, the difference is quite limited and competitive. Moreover, for this price, the contractor company undertook a much more comprehensive job, including not only the tribunes but also the ground preparation, steel construction platforms, technical infrastructure, and environmental arrangements. The claims in the news, such as "we can do the same," do not reflect technical, financial, or practical realities. The investment made within the scope of the project includes not only the tribunes but also athlete changing and shower areas, referee and management rooms, press rooms and platforms, VIP viewing areas, technical equipment rooms, WC units, modular landscaping, night lighting, and security systems. In addition, all of these structures have been built in an environmentally friendly, modular manner and in accordance with the standards required by international sports federations for tournaments. The materials were selected from certified products that are resistant to sea salt, UV rays, and temperature differences, and the use of reinforced concrete was avoided to reduce the carbon footprint to zero. COMPLETED IN RECORD TIME, INTERNATIONAL ORGANIZATIONS SUCCESSFULLY HELD In order to meet the organizations to be held in 2025, the facility was completed in a short period of only 2 months, even before the deadline specified in the contract, and delivered. Following the opening, Alanya successfully hosted two major international organizations in the same facility, including the 2025 Volleyball World Beach Pro Tour Alanya Challenge Tournament from June 11-15, 2025, and the EHF Beach Handball European Championship from July 3-13, 2025, demonstrating how appropriate an investment the project was. These organizations were broadcast live in 130 countries, including Turkey, and the total amount of payments made directly for hotel accommodations within the scope of both organizations amounted to approximately 2,500,000 Euros. In this respect, the facility has proven how correct an investment it is with its contribution to the city in just the first two organizations. Currently, due to the existence of the facility, requests have begun to come in for many national and international organizations, including beach soccer. In this respect, Alanya and the region will serve Alanya tourism as an international beach sports and event facility for many years to come. MISLEADING INFORMATION AND FACTS In response to some claims reflected in the public, we would like to emphasize the following facts:

  • The claim of political connections is unfounded: Spor Sanayi İnşaat A.Ş., which undertook the project, is an independent company and has no connection with Spor A.Ş. (Spor Etkinlikleri ve İşletmeciliği A.Ş.), a subsidiary of the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality.
  • The claim of high costs is misleading: The price is in line with market prices based on technical content and material quality. The prices mentioned in the rumors, which only include the construction of the stands and are not based on sufficient technical specifications and information, do not reflect the truth and there is also a significant difference between them and the bids of the construction company. Furthermore, the scope of the project includes the construction of a fully equipped sports complex, not just the stands.
  • There is no forced fundraising: The project, which emerged entirely in line with the demands of the sector, was also financed by the sector organizations (ALTİD, ALTSO, Regional Hotel Associations) in a transparent manner and through bank accounts, with recommended amounts based on the capacity of each facility, and entirely on a voluntary basis. No institution was forced to contribute.

THE PROJECT DEMONSTRATES THE POWER AND SUCCESS OF SECTORAL SOLIDARITY The Alanya International Beach Sports Facility is an exemplary project that was realized through the solidarity of the tourism sector and transparent practices, without the use of public funds. Thanks to this project, Alanya has not only gained a high-quality facility but also increased its promotional value, economic contribution, and international prestige. We would like to thank all the institutions, businesses, and individuals who believed in and supported this vision. Sincerely, Alanya Tourism Promotion Foundation (ALTAV), Alanya Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ALTSO), Alanya Tourist Operators Association (ALTİD)
