At the workshop titled "The Yesterday, Today, and Tomorrow of RUSSIA-TURKEY Relations," Ali Orkan, making statements on behalf of the Alanya Tourist Operators Association (ALTİD) and the Alanya Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ALTSO), announced figures reflecting the tourism potential between the two countries. In the meeting held at ALTSO, which was attended by local and foreign academics, Orkan provided the following information: There are 540 tourist facilities in Alanya. These facilities have a total capacity of 160 thousand beds. 40 percent of this bed capacity is located in 4 and 5-star facilities. Investments are also ongoing for 15 tourist facilities. In 2013, 35 million tourists came to our country, 4 million of whom were Russian. In 2014, we hosted a total of 37 million tourists in our country, 4.5 million of whom were Russian. The number of Russian tourists, which declined to 3 million 800 thousand in 2015 due to diplomatic tensions, remained at 900 thousand in 2016. In 2017, as a result of the development of dialogues between the two countries, we caught a resurgence in tourist numbers, with the number of tourists exceeding 26 million nationwide and the number of Russian guests exceeding 3.5 million in the first 9-month period. When we evaluate the number of Russian guests over the last 3 years specifically for Antalya, we see that 2 million 900 thousand entered in 2015, 492 thousand in 2016, and 3 million 300 thousand Russian tourists entered in the first 9 months of 2017.
