The 4th Alanya Municipality Golden Ladle International Cooking Competition will be held in Alanya between October 24-26. The competition, for which the Alanya Association of Tourism Professionals is the accommodation sponsor, will be held at an international level for the first time. Renowned chefs and jury members from around the world will also participate in the fourth edition of the cooking competitions, which saw 215 national contestants in 2011, 650 in 2012, and 850 in 2013.
RENOWNED CHEFS ARE COMING
Mustafa Nail Özden, President of the Altın Kepçe Aşçılar Derneği, stating that over a thousand contestants have applied for the competition to be organized by the Altın Kepçe Aşçılar Derneği at the Alanya Kültür Merkezi (AKM) under the auspices of Alanya Belediyesi, stated that they will host more than 2 thousand people, including the contestants' relatives, in Alanya for at least three days. Providing information about the competition, Özden said, “Ambitious chefs from every region of our country and from abroad, such as Lithuania, Russia, Latvia, Serbia, and Greece, will participate in the competition to be held in 26 categories, and renowned chefs who have a say in world gastronomy from the United Kingdom, Italy, Portugal, Greece, South America, Bolivia, Azerbaijan, Romania, and Germany will serve as jury members.”
‘PROMOTION OPPORTUNITY’
Burhan Sili, Member of the Board of Directors of the Turkish Hotel Association (TÜROFED) and President of the Alanya Tourist Operators Association (ALTİD), emphasized that the cooking competition, which has drawn attention for being held at a national level for three consecutive years with an increasing number of participants every year, being held at an international level this year is a very significant beginning for diversifying Alanya tourism and for gastronomy tourism. Stating that bringing the competition, which has been held at the Istanbul Beylikdüzü TÜYAP Congress Center for 12 years, to Alanya is a great success for the region, Sili said, “Within the scope of the ‘Cultural Chef Exchange Project’ conducted between the administrators of Fushun (China), the sister city of Alanya Municipality, and ALTİD, Chinese chefs residing in Alanya will also perform visual shows at the competition; the fact that national and international press members will also attend will be an important opportunity for the promotion of Alanya.”
The other sponsors of the competition, which will be hosted by Elif Korkmazel, who draws attention with the cooking programs she prepares and presents on TV, are as follows: Electrolux, Metro Market, Unilever, Arslanlar Gıda, Birlik Ekmek, Paşabahçe, Çiftlik Gıda, Hotel Cleaning Training and Decoration Association, Alanya City Council, Anadolu Technical Managers Association, and Hotel Purchasing Managers Association.
