The “Alanya, a City of Tourism Without Barriers” project, which was launched in 2011, was revived at the Alanya Working Group Commission Meeting held at the ALTİD premises. During the meeting, accessibility assessments were carried out in areas such as accessible rooms in hotels, pool lifts, airport transportation, historical sites, and boat tours, and a decision was made to collaborate with relevant institutions. ALTİD President Burhan Sili and Alanya Municipality Advisor Faruk Konukçu emphasized that Alanya, with its current experience and infrastructure, could become a world-renowned brand in barrier-free tourism.

The “Alanya, City of Accessible Tourism” project, which was signed in 2011 and saw many projects implemented until 2014, is starting again.
During the Alanya Working Group Commission Meeting held at the ALTİD premises, important decisions were made to strengthen the city’s accessible tourism infrastructure. The meeting was attended by Alanya Municipality Advisor Faruk Konukçu, ALTİD President Burhan Sili, Cem Özcan representing the Alanya Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and members of the Accessible Tourism Commission, including Gökçe Aydoğan Ergün, Hüseyin Doğan, Münir Altıoğlu, Gamze Önal, and Kerem Sidar.
The commission’s agenda included comprehensive and up-to-date studies, ranging from the number of accessible rooms in hotels to additional accessibility applications such as pool lifts. In addition, it was decided to cooperate with other relevant institutions to ensure accessible transportation from Antalya and Gazipaşa airports to Alanya.
The removal of barriers in the city’s horizontal and vertical navigation, the determination of accessibility in entertainment venues and boat tours, and accessibility issues in historical sites were discussed. The commission agreed that accessible tourism should be strongly emphasized in Alanya’s promotional activities at international fairs and organizations.
ALTİD President Burhan Sili
emphasized Alanya’s potential in this area, saying, “Thanks to its experience and expertise in accessible tourism, Alanya can achieve the desired position in the market in a very short time. Our existing tourism businesses already have a sufficient number of accessible rooms according to ministry standards. Our tourism community is aware and has a high level of awareness on this issue. We will continue to provide all kinds of support to turn these advantages into economic gains on a sectoral level and to promote our city in this area.”
Alanya Municipality Advisor Faruk Konukçu
said, “We consider accessible tourism, just like sports events, to be very important in diversifying our city’s tourism resources. We will improve our existing infrastructure and implement more qualified projects. Our Accessible Public Beach, which we launched after taking office, has provided a significant boost to this project. In the coming years, we will bring similar projects to our city, making Alanya a world-renowned brand in accessible tourism.”
