One of the world's most important tourism events, the EMITT Fair, opened its doors to visitors today at the TÜYAP Fair and Congress Center. Alanya has a stand at the fair, showcasing its rich cultural heritage and natural beauty.
The 27th Eastern Mediterranean International Tourism and Travel Fair (EMITT) has opened its doors to visitors. Due to the anniversary of the earthquake that occurred in Kahramanmaraş on February 6, 2023, and caused destruction in 11 provinces, and because of visits to the earthquake-affected region, the Minister of Tourism, Mehmet Nuri Ersoy, and the Mayor of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, Ekrem İmamoğlu, were unable to attend the opening of the fair. Among those present at the fair to promote Alanya were the Rector of Alanya Alaaddin Keykubat University (ALKÜ), Prof. Dr. Kenan Ahmet Türkdoğan; the Chairman of the Alanya Tourism Operators Association (ALTİD), Burhan Sili; the Vice Chairman of the Alanya Tourism Promotion Foundation (ALTAV) and ALTİD, Mehmet Dahaoğlu; the Member of the Alanya Municipal Council, Nuri Tokuş; the Member of the Board of Directors of ALTAV and ALTİD, Şükrü Cimrin; and the Member of the Board of Directors of ALTAV, Burçin Cevdet Çetinsöz. After the opening ribbon was cut, the Mayor of Antalya Metropolitan Municipality, Muhittin Böcek, visited the stands and met with the Alanya delegation at the Alanya stand. Alanya will host visitors throughout the fair in a specially designed 42-square-meter stand. In this area, various promotional materials and visuals are used to convey the unique beauty and tourist attractions of the city to visitors.
Mehmet Dahaoğlu, Vice President of ALTAV and ALTİD, made the following statement regarding the first day of the fair: "Today marks exactly one year since the Kahramanmaraş earthquake. In this regard, we commemorate the citizens who lost their lives in the earthquake. We have taken our place at the fair. Considering that today is the anniversary of the earthquake, the participation at the 27th EMITT Fair on its first day was lower than expected. However, we hope that there will be a more intense participation over the next three days, including public days. We will continue our discussions for four days in order to introduce Alanya to all visitors and promote our city in the best possible way."
