Danny Annan, the Ambassador of Denmark to Turkey, visited Burhan Sili, a member of the Board of Directors of the Turkish Hoteliers Federation (TÜROFED) and the President of the Alanya Tourism Operators Association (ALTİD), as part of his visit to Alanya. During the visit, he received information about the current situation in the tourism sector during the COVID-19 pandemic. Accompanied by Dr. Metin Atalay, the Honorary Consul of Denmark in Alanya, President Sili stated that they discussed the tourism relations between Denmark and Turkey. "The interest of Danish citizens in Turkey, especially in Alanya, has always been present, both for permanent residency and for vacation stays. Assuming that the pressure of the pandemic will decrease in the coming months and that charter flights will increase, we exchanged ideas on how to quickly address any problems that our holidaymakers may experience."
We presented to Ms. Annan, using statistics, just how important Gazipaşa Alanya Airport (GZP) is for tourism in Alanya. We mentioned that in previous years, a large number of tourists and foreign residents from Denmark have come to our region for vacation purposes using this airport. As representatives of the sector, instead of hiding behind uncertainties, we continue to take measures as if tourism activity could start at any moment, remain in contact with relevant parties, and convey our demands. In this context, we consider the visit of our Ambassador to Turkey, Ms. Annan, to be important, and we thank her and Mr. Metin Atalay for their contributions.”
