Alanya in China's Marie Claire Magazine

In the September issue of Marie Claire magazine, Alanya's tourism life, natural beauties, social life, and the fusion of history and modern life will be introduced to Chinese readers. İlknur Yiğit, the Culture and Public Diplomacy Attaché of the Embassy in Beijing, stated that they are collaborating with the Marie Claire team to highlight sea, sand, and sun options in line with the changing holiday habits of Chinese tourists. Following the 14-page Turkey promotion featured in the August issue with the support of THY and the hospitality of Alanya Mayor Hasan Sipahioğlu, Alanya will be featured with 14 pages in the magazine's September issue as well.

In its September issue, Marie Claire, which will feature shoots highlighting the tourism life, natural beauties, and social life in Alanya, symbolizing the convergence of history and modern life, will provide extensive information about Alanya to Chinese citizens.
In her statement regarding Marie Claire's publication about Turkey and Alanya, İlknur Yiğit, the Cultural and Press Attaché of the Beijing Embassy, said, “Until yesterday, Chinese people who remained distant from sunny options have now started to pursue the sun on vacation. Chinese people, who were thought to not have a good relationship with sea, sand, and sun, have started to change their holiday destinations as they become wealthier. Moving from this observation and stepping one ahead of our competitors, we have now started to use sea, sand, and sun in tourism promotion in China.”

We collaborated with the Chinese team of Marie Claire, a lifestyle and fashion magazine that primarily caters to Chinese high society and has a circulation exceeding 500,000, and hosted an 11-person team consisting of well-known Chinese models and the magazine's photographers and editors in Türkiye. Their first stop was Alanya.
As a result of our meetings with the Chinese media and Chinese tourism companies, we determined that Chinese tourists have begun to opt for sea and sun holiday options, with millions of Chinese tourists traveling to countries and islands in the Asia-Pacific for this purpose. Therefore, we decided to prioritize the promotion of our Mediterranean and Aegean coasts for them this year.

In China, a destination well known for its history and culture, our difference and diversity compared to other countries will become even more prominent when historical and cultural elements are combined with sea and sun options.

Chinese women of all ages, who used to open umbrellas even in the shade during summer, have now started to discard their umbrellas and discover the impact of being noticed with a bronzed complexion. We collaborated with Marie Claire magazine, which noticed this change among the increasingly affluent Chinese population. During our Minister's visit to China, an 11-person Marie Claire team also set off for Alanya. With the support of THY and the hospitality of Alanya Mayor Hasan Sipahioğlu, a full 14 pages of Turkey promotion were featured in the August issue without any advertising fees being paid.

"The Mediterranean is currently a rising fashion in China, being curious about its cuisine, olive oil, sea, fish, music, cheese, and lifestyle as a concept... We are trying to ensure that Turkey is also included here. The beautiful part is that the Marie Claire team has decided to use the Alanya theme in September as well. Alanya will feature in 14 pages in the September issue of the magazine," SAID.
