Disability Employment in the Tourism Sector, Accessibility, and Local Governments Panel December 1 – Grand Kaptan Hotel
Within the scope of the “Risk Groups in Working Life-Acquiring Vocational Skills and Increasing Awareness” project carried out by the Directorate General of Labour of the Ministry of Labour and Social Security, the “Accessibility and Local Governments Panel on Employment of the Disabled in the Tourism Sector” was held in cooperation with the Directorate General and Alanya Municipality. In the first part of the panel program, which was held at the Grand Kaptan Hotel on December 1, 2011, following the opening speeches, an “Example of a Barrier-Free Tourism City” was presented with the participation of the Mayors of Alanya, Mardin, Aliağa, Avanos, and Ayvalık. The second part of the panel included presentations by panelists from the Directorate General of Labour of the Ministry of Labour and Social Security, the Directorate General of Spatial Planning of the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization, the Directorate General of Investment and Enterprises of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, the Directorate General of Services for the Disabled and the Elderly of the Ministry of Family and Social Policies, the Turkish Employment Agency Directorate General, the State Personnel Presidency, the Alanya Municipality, and the Türkiye Hotel Association. Representing the Türkiye Hotel Association, ALTİD President Gülçin Güner, in her presentation, addressed “physical disability room arrangements” within the framework of the regulation and implementation communiqué regarding the certification and qualities of tourism facilities in ministry-certified establishments, statistics, the work carried out in Alanya on this subject, the barrier-free hotel example, and the quality and quantity of employment in the tourism accommodation sector as a service sector.
