Alanya Mayor Hasan Sipahioğlu, ALTAV President Faik Kaptanoğlu, ALTSO President Kerim Aydoğan, ALTİD President Gülçin Güner, and agency managers held meetings. Some meetings were conducted together, while others were held separately. The common goal of these contacts was to increase Alanya sales for 2012 and to secure the best advantage for the district for 2013. Additionally, AGC President Mehmet Ali Dim, Türkler Mayor Hayri Çavuşoğlu, and Tosmur Mayor Musa Özdemir participated in ITB. From Alanya, there were promotion stands at the facility level, such as the ASKA group, Alaiye group, Kirman group, and Titan Hotel from the Konaklı and Avsallar regions.
While the first three days of ITB Berlin, where more than 11 thousand participants from a total of 180 countries promoted their tourism products and services across 26 separate halls on an area of 160 thousand square meters, were open to tourism professionals, March 10 and 11, which coincided with the weekend, continued as public days. At the ITB Berlin Fair, where Türkiye has rented an area of 3,079 square meters this year, ambitious countries in the Mediterranean basin such as Spain, Greece, Egypt, and Italy are conducting promotions with stands of at least 2,000 square meters each. In the area rented by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, emphasis was placed on promotion on a regional basis.
This year, approximately 7 thousand journalists from nearly 100 countries also applied for accreditation to attend the fair. Due to the large surface area of the fair, which was held across a 160 thousand square meter area, free shuttle services were also operated between the halls. The partner country of the 46th ITB Berlin Fair this year is Egypt, which is undergoing political turmoil and attempting to compensate for its losses in tourism. Egypt, which will utilize the promotional advantage at ITB through its partner country status, continued its offensive in Germany.
