Münir Altıoğlu, the Social Services Coordinator participating in the conference representing Alanya Municipality, stated that while the United Nations World Tourism Organization taking steps regarding "barrier-free tourism" constitutes an important step on the scale of equal human rights, it also holds significance in terms of highlighting a new and high economic value tourism market within the developing global tourism market; furthermore, when evaluated on a local basis, he noted that Alanya has been making significant strides and has covered serious ground in this field in recent years together with its Barrier-Free Tourism Protocol partners.
Altıoğlu stated that, in addition to many professionals regarding local studies, they had the opportunity to convey information directly to UN Tourism Secretary-General Taleb Rifai and ENAT President Annagrazia Laura, and within this framework, they foresee that Alanya will be more in the foreground in the coming years.
