As a result of the agreement made with Alanya, Su Ltd, and the Turkish Volleyball Federation, the city will host the U19 World Beach Volleyball Tournament, where 24 male and 24 female athletes will compete. The teams that take first place in the championship will earn the right to participate in SWATCH FIVB World Tour organizations. Mayor Hasan Sipahioğlu stated that they are happy to host this organization, which is emphasized by the FIVB, and to introduce the city to the world through television channels.

Alanya, which is the first place that comes to mind when Beach Volleyball in Türkiye is mentioned, is known as the “European Beach Volleyball Center” due to the project it will soon break ground on, as per the agreement made with the Turkish Volleyball Federation and the European Volleyball Confederation (CEV) in 2007.
Alanya, visited by 2 million tourists every year, will host the best under-19 Beach Volleyball players in the world as a result of the agreement made with Su Ltd and the Turkish Volleyball Federation in 2009. The tournament, in which 24 male and 24 female athletes will compete, will begin with qualifying matches, and the main draw matches will commence on August 20, 2009.
In the championship, where two teams each will represent our country in both the men's and women's categories, the teams that take first place will earn the right to participate in SWATCH FIVB World Tour organizations.
Regarding the organization, Mayor Hasan Sipahioğlu stated in his announcement, “We are taking great pleasure in organizing one of the Under-19 and Under-21 World Championships, which the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) attaches great importance to, in our city. We are now one of the places that comes to mind when Beach Volleyball is mentioned, not just in Europe, but worldwide. As always, we are happy that we will host the world's athletes in the best possible way this year and, while providing our citizens with an exciting and enjoyable time, we will also promote our city to the entire world through TV channels.”
Following the 2009 SWATCH FIVB Youth World Championship tournament, the 2009 SWATCH FIVB Junior World Championship tournament, in which under-21 athletes will compete, will take place between September 3-6 in the city of Monterrey, Mexico.
